LISTENING TO THE BODY

Special Note – please read through this entire post as well as Part 1 and Part 2 before taking any actions or making any dietary changes.  There are more notes at the end of this post about how to or how not to listen to your body.

No book or expert can tell you exactly how to feed and take care of your body decade after decade, year after year, month after month, week after week, day after day, hour after hour, minute after minute and second after second.  You need to get in touch with your own body and listen to your body.  A great man named Wayne Garland from Australia who healed himself from cancer once told me: “Your body loves you, so love your body back.”  You should do your best to notice how certain foods affect you and your body, certain people, certain places, certain activities.  Notice how much rest you need and how long and what type of exercise your body prefers.  As your body begins to function properly it will provide more and more feedback to guide you in supporting it in health.

CHALLENGE MEAL

Following two straight weeks of the Sugar Control Program strict adherence with apparently effective blood sugar regulation, your Skolnikoff Method healthcare provider will instruct you to initiate a Challenge Meal (CM).  The CM consists of a 90 minute period in the early evening where you consume a meal high in carbohydrates.  This may include items such as pasta, potatoes, cauliflower, alcoholic beverages, cane sugar sweetened desserts and beverages.  Following the completion of the CM, return to strict adherence to the Blood Sugar Control Program dietary guidelines until you are able to meet with your healthcare provider to evaluate your body’s response.  If your body responded well, then the process of relaxing the dietary restrictions will ensue, if not, then an additional week of strict adherence will be added and the CM repeated.

The Skolnikoff Method Introduces Total Body Modification’s

Autonomic Recovery Program

The following guidelines were originally developed by Dr. Victor Frank, co-founder of Total Body Modification (TBM) and have been expanded by Dr. Kevin Millet.

Note: Prior to beginning this program, consult with all of your current health care professionals.  Although this program is based on recommendations that have been utilized for decades and have been proven to be effective and completely safe, there are certain indifivuals and medical conditions that can make elements of this program unsuitable.

MANDATORY

WATER:  Consume 2/3 of an ounce of water per pound of body weight (0.66 X pounds = ounces per day) or 43.5mL per kilogram each day, unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider.  Purified water is recommended, but meeting the daily minimum intake always takes priority.

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

RED MEAT:  Eat a minimum of nine ounces of red meat per week.  This includes beef, venison, buffalo and elk.  If you are of Scandinavian decent, you must include fish; if of Arabian or Australian decent, include lamb.  Red meat and fish are best eaten raw.  Speak with your healthcare provider about safe consumption of these items.

GREEN VEGETABLES:  Consume, as desired, any and all green vegetables (e.g. peppers, broccoli, cabbage, cucumbers, zucchini, etc.). Do not eat sugar snap peas.

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

EXERCISE:  A minimum of 20 minutes of physical activity 3 times per week, increasing it to 1 hour per day after about a month or so.

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

BOWEL HABITS:  Visit the toilet 15 – 30 minutes following each meal to enable re-establishment of a bowel evacuation following each meal.  Eliminates the use of laxatives.  It is not absolutely crucial that you do this if you are under the care of a certified Skolnikoff Method Practitioner.  However, if you are not under the care of a certified Skolnikoff Method Practitioner then it is a great idea.

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

SLEEP HYGIENE:  Extinguish all light sources in sleeping quarters.  Dim lights to mimic outside light cycle and avoid stimulating activities and foods for a minimum of 1 hour prior to retiring.  Retire and awaken at the same time each day.  See handout “How to Get a Good Night’s Sleep” for additional pointers.  Minimize your use of somnoleptics (sleeping pills) as much as you can (coordinate with relevant health professionals as needed).

SALT:  Salt food to taste.  Note: Salt avoidance when drinking large amounts of water is unsafe.  To minimize aluminum exposure and to provide other trace minerals, it is recommended that you use unrefined salts (real salt, celtic sea salt, etc).

EAT BREAKFAST:  A substantial, protein-rich breakfast is crucial for the stability of blood sugar throughout the day.

EAT FREQUENTLY:  You must go no longer than two hours without eating.  An hourly snack is recommended with 3 – 5 meals throughout the day.  Suggested snacks: cooked broccoli, cooked asparagus, beef, lamb, duck, turkey, fish (not shellfish).  Avoid tuna, shark, swordfish and Barramundi.  It is best not to participate in religious or other types of fasts during the Blood Sugar Control Program.

     ALLOWED

SWEETENERS:  (NOT REALLY ALLOWED)  Avoid even modest amounts of unrefined cane sugars (e.g. Sucanat, Rapadura, Steen’s).  Don’t eat honey.

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

ANIMAL PRODUCTS:  Except for milk, you may eat most animal products but avoid pork and eggs.  Meats are good; butter is great; turkey and ostrich are great.   Avoid chicken because it is loaded with epinephrine and norepinephrine which will throw off your hormones.  Feel free to eat plenty of fabulous proteins such as organ meats, beef, lamb, duck, turkey, ostrich, elk, fish from the sea (avoiding tuna, shark and swordfish and barramundi and other fish that are very, very large.)  Minimize halibut consumption.  butter is better–butter is good.

RICE: Don’t eat the stuff.  Forget about it.  Be wise and avoid wise.  Many of the people from China who have had a diet with a large amount of rice have ended up with osteoporosis.  In fact, the highest levels of osteoporosis are in China and among the Chinese.

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

BREAD: Don’t eat it.  You may have a question for me such as, “But doctor, I have heard that it is perfectly fine to have two slices of one hundred per cent sprouted grain bread or rice bread.  In fact, the person who told me was the one of the main developers of or owner of one of the techniquest that you use to heal your patients.  Can’t we follow this advice?”  My response to this would be, “I would avoid bread for now.”
Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3
RED VEGETABLES:  Avoid for now.  Especially, avoid peppers, tomatoes and cabbage.  However, soon you will be able to have carrots in moderation and some of these other red vegetables as well.  In time, my padawan, all good things come with time.  This is the way. Kale is alright-you can eat it.

YELLOW AND ORANGE VEGETABLES:  Avoid these items for now.  As a matter of fact, you should rarely, rarely, rarely, rarely if ever, have corn.  The reason being that corn causes the four “Ds.”  As a matter of fact, sometimes we see five “Ds.”  The four “Ds” are diarrhea, depression, dermatitis and dementia.  The 5th “D” is DEATH.  It is best to avoid death for now.  For now also avoid carrots, yellow squash, and similar yellow vegetables.  You can come back to these vegetables in a couple of months.  You can work directly with your licensed healthcare provider to guide you as to when it would be a good idea to come back to various foods.

ALLIUMS:  In general, it should be safe for you to consume most alliums unless you have a known allergy to them or an extremely toxic liver.  These are very high sulfur content specific foods.  Specifically, we are talking about garlic and onions.  Leeks are also an allium and they should be avoided for now as should turnips be avoided.  Focus on eating green, leafy vegetables rather than all of these other unusual colors or white vegetables or tubers.

NUTS: No, avoid them.  Here is the question that you may have for me: “But Dr. Skolnikoff, I heard that RAW cashews, walnuts, pecans and brazil nuts are ok.  Or, if you sprout your own nuts then that is ok to eat.”  My response: “I would avoid nuts completely.  It is very uncommon for people to sprout their own nuts, but if you are able to do this and then eat some of them in moderation right after they are sprouted, I do not see a problem with this.  However, eat them in their whole state.  Do not juice them or put them in the vitamixer.  Just eat them whole sprouted in minimal amounts.  They are not designed for human consumption.  They contain too much fiber and your body does not make cellulase enzyme like a cow’s body does.  You do not have 4 stomachs and rechew your food after you have swallowed it like a cow does.  You no longer have an active appendix like ruminant animals often do.  These nuts and seeds contain phytates  Phytates are a poison.”

FRUITS:  Avoid fruits for now.  The bitter sweet truth about nearly all fruits except for avocados and lemons and limes is that they contain quite a bit of sugar.  Also, most fruits are far too alkaline once you swallow them.  You can have avocados, but avoid the other fruits for a while — for about 45 days you should avoid fruits.  I mean 45 consecutive days after your healthcare provider treats you.  If the fruits are all raw, whole fruits then you should still avoid them.  If the fruit is canned and the fruit is canned only in water or its own juice, then you should especially avoid that fruit.  Do not drink any juice even if it is freshly pressed juice.  You are asking for big trouble if you have juice.

COFFEE AND TEA:  Avoid all beverage that contain caffeine (coffee, tea, especially green tea.)  The only herbal teas you should have are those that are wildcrafted or organic and only mint, chamomile or ginger.  Only have mint tea if you are not using homeopathy.  Or, use mint tea at least 3 or more days after the use of homeopathy.  Mint will often antidote homeopathy so the two should not be used together.

LISTEN TO YOUR BODY:  Listening to your body is what got you into this mess to begin with.  I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news.  Don’t get the messenger confused with the message.  We are honored to have a chance to support you through this process and help your and your body to communicate better with each other so that you will once again be able to listen to the needs of your body and serve its highest good.

FORBIDDEN

Belly Fat and Hormone Balancing Diet: Part 3

GRAIN PRODUCTS:  Avoid all grains (wheat, oats, barley, rice, cereals, pastas, breads) and other grain products.

LEGUMES:  Avoid all legumes (soy, peanuts, kidney beans, pinto beans, refried beans, lentils).  Note that soy causes impotence and infertility which is not so great.

NUTS:  Avoid all nuts

SWEETENERS:  Avoid all sweeteners unless prescribed.  Below are two different partial lists of sweeteners to avoid:

NATURAL SWEETENERS:  Stevia, sugar, inverted sugar, brown sugar, “sugar in the raw,” sucrose, glucose, maltose, fructose, stevia, malt sugar, honey, syrups (maple, rice, corn, high-fructose corn), concentrated fruit juice, agave nectar, and sugar alcohols (xylitol, mannitol, sorbitol, maltitol)

ARTIFICIAL:  Polyols/sugar alcohols (xylitol, erythritol, mannitol), sucralose (Splenda), aspartame (Nutrasweet, Equal), saccharin (Sweet’ n Low), acesulfame potassium (ACK, Sweet One, Sunnett), neotame, and cyclamate.

MISCELLANEOUS:  Avoid dried fruit, alcoholic beverages, canola oil, other nut oils other than occasional olive oil or grape seed oil.  Avoid margarine, shortening, cauliflower and other white vegetables, frozen foods, beets, yams, potatoes, tofu, milk of all kinds (cow, goat, almond, soy, rice, etc…)
