In holistic healthcare, fertility isn’t just about the ability to conceive – it’s about the body’s overall health and well-being.  Rather than looking at reproductive function in isolation, holistic healthcare considers how physical, emotional, energetic, and environmental factors all work together to support or hinder fertility.

Are you familiar with all of the different aspects of an holistic approach?

We will focus on a few important factors of an holistic approach.

We need to answer very basic questions:

  • Why aren’t you able to get pregnant?  Is the problem related to the prospective mother?  Is the problem related to the prospective father of the yet to be born child?  Could it have anything to do with the health of the eggs or uterus of the mother?
  • Has the mother been exposed to excessive poisons or toxins? Does she drink too much alcohol?
  • Does the mother have a structural problem? For example, does she have any difficulties with her organs, glands, bones, joints, ligaments or related structures?  Did she have a physical injury to her body that created a problem that affects her ability to get pregnant?
  • Does she have an allergy?
  • Does she have a chemical problem? This could be a problem with the water that she drinks or other beverages she consumes.  It could be a problem with the air she breathes, her personal care products, etc.  In fact, it may be a problem with her food / her diet.  Maybe there are toxic chemicals in her personal care products.  She may have poisons somewhere in her environment.  For example, maybe they use a toxic perfume on the clothes that she gets from the dry cleaners.  Maybe she has been exposed to some other toxins in her environment such as from paint, a pan she cooks her food in, or an off gassing carpet.
  • Is there an emotional problem?  Is she having limiting and self-sabotaging thoughts.  Is it her feelings about the pregnancy or her husband that are at the root of the problem? Could she tormented by beliefs that limit her?  Are there attitudes that she has that are causing a problem?  Maybe she has a conflict about whether she wants a boy, girl or even to be pregnant at all.  She may have suffered trauma at a young age from a violent, abusive or psychotic mother.  This is a real and valid concern that should not be brushed off.  Maybe she is losing her mind due to financial woes or difficulties with her career or even a son, daughter, brother, sister or other family member that is in some sort of trouble.

Could Your Thyroid Gland Be Part of the Root

Cause of Your Inability to Get Pregnant?

Infertility - Why Am I Infertile? How Do I Become Fertile Naturally and Holistically?

As an example of some of the structures involved in fertility…, your organs and glands that are related to fertility should be balanced and, ideally, in excellent health to be able to conceive a healthy child.  The main organs and glands and anatomical structures and chemicals that are involved with fertility are your ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, eggs of your ovaries, hormones involved in fertility, and breast tissue. However, it is important to note that these structures and chemicals that this author just mentioned are not functioning in your body in a vacuum.  Everything in your body works as a whole; thus, your body is an entire reproductive unit.  We do not want to isolate different parts of your body and separate their function from the rest of your body, but rather, understand how the function of some of these key areas may influence other aspects of your reproductive health.  For example, the hormones needed to reproduce are related to your entire endocrine system (hormone system).  The three estrogens, progesterone, androgens such as testosterone and dihydrotestosterone and DHEA, aldosterone, cortisol, and pregnenolone are not the only hormones that influence fertility by any means.  Luteinizing hormone and follicle stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland as well as those hormones coming from the hypothalamus such as Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), Corticotropin-Releasing Hormone (CRH), Thyrotropin-Releasing Hormone (TRH), Prolactin-Inhibiting Hormone (Dopamine), and Kisspeptin.  The hypothalamus is in charge of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal, hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid, and hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axes.  The signals that come from the hypothalamus in the brain are crucial in establishing fertility, maintaining fertility and carrying out the birth of a healthy child.

Holistic approaches to fertility focus on:

  • Balancing your hormones by supporting your endocrine function through giving specific clinically appropriate, effective nutrition, herbal medicine, and stress reduction
  • Improving gut health and digestion by addressing leaky gut, inflammation, and nutrient absorption to optimize reproductive function
  • Helping with energy flow and emotional health by clearing emotional blockages and stress through modalities like Neuro Emotional Technique (NET), Total Body Modification (TBM), or Cranial Sacral Therapy
  • Detoxifying your body and decreasing your toxic load by supporting your liver and kidneys to enhance your hormone metabolism and reduce endocrine disruptors.  Endocrine disruptors are nasty buggers like phosphates, halogens, heavy metals, plastics like phthalates, parabens, etc.
  • We can boost your essential nutrient absorption… helping you to absorb those nutrients that are the most relevant to your clinical picture.  We do this using whole-food supplementation (e.g., Standard Process, MediHerb) to replenish deficiencies in key fertility nutrients like B vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals.
  • We have energy medicine therapies that are safe and effective and specific just to you.  These therapies target your different body systems and help to stop and even reverse pathological processes that may already be taking place in your body.  It is amazing!!
  • We can balance your nervous system by applying neurovascular and neurolymphatic techniques to balance the autonomic nervous system, which plays a crucial role in reproductive health.
  • We are excited to help you with your structural alignment.  We do this by ensuring your proper alignment and blood flow through chiropractic care, applied kinesiology, and other bodywork modalities.  We help you with the subtle energies of your body.

Rather than just focusing on conception, holistic fertility care seeks to restore balance and vitality to your entire system, allowing your body to naturally achieve its optimal reproductive potential.
